Waking Up

Every single day we have to wake up at 6:00 in the morning, SO EARLY. When I arrive at school, I always see people yawning and it makes me yawn too!!!!!! I just wish school could start at 9:00 because 7:30 is much too early. Sometimes I get a hadache because I'm so sleepy. When I daydream the only thing I think about is going back to sleep!!!!!!!!!!

SLEEP SLEEEEEEEEEEEP SLEEEEEEEEEEEEP SLEEEEEEEEP SLEEP SLEEP SLEEP SLEEPY GO TO BED, GO TO BED, GO TO BED AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

5. In 1957 Dictator Francois Duvalier ruled over Haiti. The deep poverty was hidden behind the strong government. Whoever argued or disagreed with Duvalier ended up dead!!! Haitians left the country for safety.

6. The population in Haiti is 95% black and 5% white. Extended family members live in a small house with other members of the family. So it's very cramped.

7. Mostly Haitians speak French, because the French rule Haiti.

8. Carnival and New Year's are the most important holidays for most haitians.

9. Haiti produces coffee,sugarcane,rice,corn and e.t.c.

10. President elections happen every 5 years. Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world and the poorest country in the western hemisphere.

AHHHHHH Black Out!!!

Yesterday the lights went off just before I had dinner and just after I finished having a shower. This is not the first time the power has went off in my house. Unfortunately we don't have a backup generator. So we had our first family candlelight dinner. Suddenly I heard the water pump running, the fans spinning, could this be? The lights had came back on!!! YAYYYYYYYY!!!! I realized I couldn't get much of my homework done. I just went to bed and it was 11:00 'o clock in the NIGHT!!!!!! And that was the end of a dark experience!!!

Haiti Update

Last Monday a terrible 7.0 magnitude earthquake shook Haiti. There is good news and of course bad news. The good news is that aid is being rushed into Haiti from all over the world, but there's a minute problem. All the aid that is being rushed into Haiti is by going through Haiti's main airport in Port -Au- Prince, the capital of Haiti. There is so much of aid to be sent through the airport and into Port-Au Prince that there may be an overload of people in the airport, which will obviously cause a very very very long line!!!

The second part of the bad news is that the death toll is rising by the minute. The giverment has to make a new solution with the airport.

As I am writing this post there are a lot of things going on in Haiti, RIGHT NOW!!!!! Such as the Dominican Republic are helping Haiti with the quake, or people are stealing goods from shops while other people are trying to take it away from them by murdering them!!!!!

Earthquake Shakes Haiti!!!!!!!!

On Tuesday a massive earthquake shook Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world and the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. Everyone was in shock. The quake measured a whopping 7.o magnitude on the richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was very near the capital of Haiti, Port-Au-Prince. The quake was only just 6 miles below the surface.

This is Haiti's most grandest building, the presidents palace. The first picture shows the President's Palace standing up tall and erect. Now look at second picture, which shows the destruction made by the 7.0 magnitude earthquake. The President's Palace has been sadly destroyed. Other important buildings have been destroyed, such as the cathideral and the Un Building.

She is one of the many people who have survived the earthquake, but she may be injured. She's probably crying because she has lost all her loved ones, her parents, her sibling and the rest of the of the family. Also she has no place to live once all the rebble is cleared up.

Our Exciting Trip to India

For the December Break we went to Mumbai and Goa. Mumbai is India's second biggest city. Goa is my hometown and it's a 45 minute flight from Mumbai, you can aslo go to Goa by train. Goa is a wonderful place and is full with beaches and a little bit of rice paddies, just like Bali! Except Goa is less devoloped and their beaches are dirty. I didn't really want to swim in the sea, just looking at it made me vomit.

In Mumbai we had to attend my dad's cousin's wedding. I had to wear a suit for the first time in my life. My dad said that I looked like a buisness man!!!! Anyway, we celebrated Christmas with a special mass at my dad's school and his classmate was the priest!!! It was a very special christmas for my dad and me, because I got an I pod Touch for Christmas!!!!!!!! Yipeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

We celebrated New Years by going for a midnight mass. The New Year was a special day for my mom and dad because it was their wedding anniversary and it was my mom's birthday too!!!!

We had to go to 3 family reunions during my trip to India. 2 from my dad's side and one from my mom's side. Next I got to visit my grandparents from my mom's side personally because I had to do a school project where I had to interview my grandma.

Finally we had to go back home to Jakarta, it was a long flight,but it felt nice being back in Jakarta again, away from the hustle and bustle in Mumbai.

Avatar

Avatar was a movie I watched in 3D!!! It was basically about a person named Jake who is a soldier who is in a future army trying to destroy the heart of Pandora. Pandora is a place where these creatures live. These creatures are called the "navies" and they look simillar to us, humans. The Commander of the army tells Jake to close his eyes, then they put him into a machine and it transforms him into one of the Navies. He had to transform into one of the Navies so he can tell all the Navies to evacuate from where they are living. Jake told them this, because the army wants to attack their tree where they live. In the end Jake wants to be one of the Navies for good. Finally since the army shot down their tree where the Navies live. Jake had decided to fight back and the Navies won the battle.

Avatar is made by the director of Titanic, his name is James Cameron. Avatar has been the most expensive movie in the history of all movies. The cost to make this movie is.......... DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!

3 idiots

3 idiots is a Hindhi film, which is actually based on a true story, when the father forces his son what to take up for college. Here the father forces his son to take up engineerig, but he's actually the class clown. While his two other friends were about to get expelled from the engineering college because of him. In the end he runs his own school, which is located far away from the cars,the noise and the pollution.

The main actor is Amir Kahn. And I think this is a "must watch movie" so as Avatar.

Celebrating Christmas

Celbrating Christmas in India was special for my dad, because the priest who was celebrating the mass was my dad's class mate and the fact that the mass was located at my dad's school. It was a special Christmas for my dad, but not so much for me. I knew the next day I would get get my christmas present which was an i-pod touch!!!!

Celebrating the New Year

We celebrated the new year in Mumbai by going to church, then we went to a high end restraunt called "Salt and Water". It was a special day for my mom and dad, because it was not just only the New Year, it was my mom's birthday and it was my parents wedding anniversary too!

Visiting Family

The reason we came to India, because we could visit relatives and family. I had to go for two family reunions, two from my dad's side and one from my mom's side. Also I visited my grandparents with my mom. The Reason I had to visit my grandparents personally, is because I had to interview my grandma for my English and Social Studies project. Not only that I video taped the interview.

In the end it was a really nice holiday!!!
